Dr. Mark Fluter – Owner – Chiropractor
Dr. Mark Fluter graduated in 1999 with an Honours Kinesiology degree from the University of Western Ontario. In 2005 he graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and he spent the first part of his career working at an outpatient Medical Clinic in Cairo, Egypt. He later joined the Synergy Centre team in September of 2011.
Over the last several years Dr. Fluter created a blended style of treatment with a strong foundation in ongoing functional assessment and diagnosis. Treatment options include mobilizations, manual manipulations, and soft tissue therapy, as well as acupuncture, Shockwave Therapy and custom-made orthotics when appropriate.
Dr. Fluter completed the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture program at McMaster University in 2014 which has provided another effective treatment option to use either on its own, or in conjunction with chiropractic care. He has also taken various continuing education courses in post concussion management, gut health and TMJ/TMD treatments.
Dr. Fluter is an advocate of patient responsibility in attaining health care goals. Younger and older patients alike will be educated in a range of home rehabilitative and postural exercises to achieve long term results.
In April of 2018, Dr. Fluter and his wife Kristin opened Synergy Centre Spine And Joint Associates located within the Synergy Centre. Expanding to include Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Physiotherapy & Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy services to the new clinic. He is excited for this new venture operating a family run practice with a dynamic patient oriented rehab team!
Dr. Tiffany Rose Lukas (Formerly Eybergen) – Chiropractor
Dr. Tiffany Rose Lukas graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion from the University of Georgia. In 2016 she completed her chiropractic studies at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.
Most recently she had the privilege of working for St. Michael’s Hospital Academic Family Health Team in Toronto and led an evidence based diversified chiropractic practice within the Children’s Fitness Centres of Canada.
Dr. Tiffany spent the first part of her career as a health educator for the American Heart Association, in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation at St. Mary’s hospital in Athens, Georgia, and at the Wasserstraelen aquatic centre in Straelen, Germany. In Chicago she spent several years treating patients as a manual therapist, physical therapy aide, and radiology technician of the spine refining her ability in assessment and diagnosis.
Dr. Tiffany has a particular interest in aesthetic sport injury rehabilitation and family practice. She is a former Canadian National Elite Rhythmic Gymnast and a certified Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging Functional Fitness Instructor for Older Adults. Since 2001 she has coached Trampoline, Artistic, and Rhythmic Gymnastics. Patients will benefit from her passion for exercise instruction, incorporation of gymnastics based fitness and functional training into treatment programs.
Treatment options include hands-on mobilizations, manual manipulations and soft tissue therapy, as well as Shockwave Therapy and custom-made orthotics when necessary.
Dante Biscaro – Physiotherapist MSc PT – BHK
An Ottawa native, Dante is fluently English/French bilingual in his practice and graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy. He completed undergraduate Honours Degrees in Biology from Western University and in Human Kinetics from the University of Ottawa. Dante is a “Trained Provider of the Shift Concussion Management Program”, qualified to administer the ImPACT Test (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Test) as well as Baseline Testing for athletes.
He has been heavily involved in the soccer world as a former player and coach for the Capital United Soccer Club (CUSC) in Ottawa, recruited player on a professional European reserve team in Romania and Varsity soccer player for 5 years at Western University. His time on and off the soccer field has allowed him to appreciate and understand the rehabilitation process from both the athlete and the physiotherapist’s perspectives. Furthermore, his experience preparing and implementing pre-season training programs for competitive youth and senior soccer teams has given him a solid base in strength and conditioning.
Dante believes in providing individualized care with patient-oriented goals, has completed training in Acupuncture and Concussion Management, and is a certified professional in running assessments. He is looking forward to furthering his professional development in Manual Therapy and Dry Needling. Today, Dante enjoys running, cycling and triathlons, and has competed in the Boston Marathon and the Mont Tremblant 70.3 Half Ironman.
Hiral Desai – Physiotherapist BPT – Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist
Hiral Desai is a dynamic physiotherapist with over 10 years of experience treating patients on 2 continents with various musculoskeletal conditions. Hiral graduated as a physiotherapist back in 2007 from the Rajiv Gandhi University Institute of Physiotherapy, Health Sciences Karnataka. She was soon after heading the Physiotherapy Department of the Ayurveda Hospital of India. After moving to Canada with her family she began practicing as a physiotherapist in the GTA then relocating to the London area, joining the multidisciplinary team at the Synergy Centre in April 2018.
Hiral believes in an evidence-based practice approach and has a strong focus in Chronic Pain, Orthopaedic Injuries and Women’s Health. (Pre Natal, Urinary Incontinence, Pelvic Floor Prolapse, Pain & Postpartum Recovery) She uses a combination of soft tissue release techniques, one-on-one hands on manual therapy, exercise rehabilitation, as well as certain modalities such as IFC, Tens, Therapeutic Ultrasound and Shockwave Therapy. She has taken various continuing education courses in Manual Therapy, Mulligan Concepts, Pelvic Floor Therapy, Hydrotherapy, Antenatal and Postnatal Training, Yoga Therapy and Kinesio Taping Techniques. Her main passion is her family, enjoying an active lifestyle and practicing yoga.
She believes “It is not only your skills and knowledge that is enough to treat your patients’ symptoms, it is treating your patient as a whole”.
Karin A. Lorento, MSc, DOMP – Osteopathic Manual Practitioner
Karin A. Lorento has had a long journey on her way to becoming a Manual Osteopath: what she brings to the table is a unique blend of national strength and conditioning, applied kinesiology, and osteopathic sciences, giving Karin a broad-spectrum view on movement and human physiology.
Karin graduated university the first time around with a double major in social sciences from the University of Guelph in 2004, leading to a career in social work. It was many years later during the pursuit of personal passions that her career took a hard-right turn towards health sciences, thus directing her into personal training and leading her to continue her education in applied kinesiology. She then obtained her professional certification in Human Performance Development in 2011 from Sheridan College, and at the encouragement of her mentor, was accepted into a pilot MSc program at A. T. Still University of Osteopathic Sciences in Arizona which she completed with a specialization in clinical psychology in 2014.
Upon her graduation, it was mere days before head-hunters recruited Karin as the local National Strength and Conditioning Specialist contracted to the Canadian Wheelchair Sports Association.
Over the last several years, Karin has been dedicated to working with special populations including Paralympic and provincial-level wheelchair athletes. Being such a unique field comes with its own set of challenges with chronic pain being at the root. When her alma mater offered to financially support her continued education towards completing her manual osteopathy degree, Karin jumped at the opportunity to add to her professional toolbox.
Manual Osteopathy has provided Karin the ability to take her athlete’s and patient’s chronic pain into her own hands by treating all the systems as one; (craniosacral, visceral, and musculoskeletal) and gently encouraging realignment through hands-on manipulation, Karin is able to effectively manage and mitigate the chronic pain associated with a variety of ailments, with her specializing in spinal cord injuries and neurodegenerative illnesses such as Parkinson’s and Multiple Sclerosis. She is looking forward to furthering her professional development in Advanced Visceral and Advanced Paediatrics.
Brenda Pieper – Patient Care Coordinator
With significant history in office administration and with over 12 years experience, Brenda is a key part of the Synergy Centre Spine & Joint team.
Brenda is our Patient Care Coordinator, administrator and medical billing specialist dealing with all Motor Vehicle Accident, Worker Safety and Insurance Board cases, and private Medical Insurance Plans.
